University Mound Reservoir North Basin Seismic Retrofit

As Prime JV Partner, STRUCTUS was responsible for the co-management of this large concrete reservoir retrofit project with over 440,000 sf of covered area, and for the seismic retrofit design of three large interior segments with ductile concrete moment frames and three exterior segments with steel braced frames and concrete shear walls. The project was designed per SFPUC’s “General Seismic Requirements” to meet the Structural Performance Category III objective, for Immediate Occupancy performance under a BSE 2 seismic event. Three dimensional non-linear analyses were used for the new ductile moment frames to comply with ASCE 41’s step-by-step, push-over method.
